Richa Joshi Pant on “Teaching Biology for social change”

Ms. Richa Joshi Pant is a Biology faculty and coordinator at Welham Girls’ school, Dehradun, Uttarakhand

The discussion will cover – To achieve the goal of social change, the concept of Organic Evolution needs to be introduced early on in school life. Studies show that children when presented with concepts like ‘speciation’ in elementary school develop analytical ability in recognizing patterns, drawing comparisons and differences. When Biology is taught and learned with an evolutionary perspective it becomes more meaningful as it is than no more just an assortment of facts and information to be memorized.
