KSHITIJ, located in Mumbai, was established in 2006 by a group of friends who believed in working on
child development through experiential education. The activities range from workshops like theatre, photography, science, art, craft, aero-modeling, imagination, cooperative games.
There are one-day outdoor programs like an adventurous day out, treks, organic farm days, that happen in and around the city, to outdoor overnight camps that range from one night to upto twelve days. There are customized programs for birthday celebrations based on nature, adventure, art.
They also customize engagement workshops and team building and outbound sessions for corporates.
For schools and social organizations, they have teacher training sessions and extended co-operative play sessions.
Dr. Charmi Gada, a physiotherapist by profession and part of the core founding team tells us about the team, “We are a team of friends who came together with their shared interest of working with kids and using the experiential education (EE) methodology to do so.
We come from diverse backgrounds like theatre, medicine, management, brand consulting etc. but we love “PLAY”, in the literal sense! The core team is now certified in the practice of Experiential Education Methodology.”
KSHITIJ caters to the age group of 6 – 14 years for most of programs. They also have specially crafted programs for teens 13 – 19 years and youth, including families, teachers and corporates.
The student to facilitator ratio is 8-10 : 1, with a separate support staff for kitchen, hospitality and certified adventure experts.
Who Can Join
Benefits of Joining the Program
Dr.Charmi Gada says, “By joining our programs kids will learn being physically active, they experience success and become more confident, gain resiliency by conquering fear, get an opportunity to unplug from technology and spend time with nature and friends. Our programs help them build life skills and survival skills and also social skills. They learn to make things using their own hands so it creates a lot of value with respect to the different intelligences that aid learning.”
Mother and Child Camp
Dr.Charmi Gada talks about a recent Mother and Child camp that they conducted near Lonavala in Maharashtra. “The mothers in that program found it to be a “liberating experience”, and they said to have discovered a new awareness that just going away from the daily chaos on a rustic trip allowed them to be themselves and enjoy with their kids and overcome their own fear of heights and water, that they may have been imposing on the kids!”
