Balika Devi on “Impact of outreach programs in high school science education”

Ms. Balika Devi is an Educator/Mentor/Research Professional with nearly 17 years of rich experience in working with the education management industry. She has a Master’s Degree in Zoology with a Bachelors in Education from the Bangalore University. She has taught various subjects like Biology, Environmental Management and Environmental Science to grades 6 to 12 across curriculum [ICSE/IGCSE/AS/A Level]. She was a Research Intern at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science on a project based on Neurodegenerative Diseases. She has also gained professional experience as a student counsellor that has always supported her in her classroom engagements with learners.

Ms. Balika Devi is a Cambridge certified professional for Cambridge International AS and A Level Biology (9700), Coursework Evaluator for Environmental Management [AS Level], Trained Exam Officer and a Learner of Understanding Assessment: A practical course for teachers.
Two students under her tutelage were awarded Outstanding Learner Achievement award in AS level [Environmental Management] by Cambridge International Examination in the year 2017 & 2018.

Ms. Balika  Devi is Skilled and certified in Curriculum Development, Mentoring Teachers, Project based learning, Critical Thinking and problem solving. She spearheaded the Outreach Programs with Research organizations and collaborated in bringing scientific research into classrooms with National Center for Biological Sciences [NCBS] and Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Energy and Development (MGIRED)

Educational Philosophy

Ms. Balika Devi believe every child is unique and deserves a caring, inspiring, and engaging atmosphere in which to grow emotionally, intellectually, and socially. It is her goal to help encourage students to look beyond the four walls of the classroom and view the world around them as a place of learning and discovery.

By doing this, Ms. Balika Devi to instill in them a desire to become lifelong learners.
