Special Feature: Maruthi International School, Tumkur, Karnataka
We are a school dedicated to high academic standards fused with an intention to put young children in their transition years on a path of study of ‘self’ and self knowledge. The philosophy of the school is highlighted by an effective introduction to the spiritual life. We provide an environment conducive to the holistic development of children to achieve their best, as every child is unique. Resident students are also accepted from Class Five to Ten. The aim is the development of Emotional and Spiritual Quotient (EQ & SQ) as a way of broadening the understanding of the development of children. The traditional concept of Intelligence Quotient (IQ) as being the only measure of evaluation is regarded as limited in the context of our complex and technology dominated lifestyle.
Yoga – A way of life at Maruthi International
The system of Yoga is introduced at 3 levels of human personality: Physical, Mental and Spiritual. Meditation trains and disciplines the mind. The practice purifies the emotions and makes one firm but gentle. It improves concentration and learning abilities.
We follow the time tested techniques of the Himalayan Tradition of Yoga and Meditation as taught by His Holiness Sri Swami Rama of the Himalayas. The breathing techniques taught are practiced by the children of classes 3 to 10 everyday which harmonize different functional energies of the body towards greater efficiency in their everyday life.
The Little Crest
The Little Crest is a unique preschool. The Little Crest blends the contemporary global thoughts of Early Childhood Education of New Zealand with the Indian traditional ways of teaching, cultural milieu and family values into one holistic learning environment that children love and enjoy.
The Little Crest is founded on the philosophy that ‘every child is a competent learner’. As Piaget noted, children are born with a drive to make sense of the world around them. Hence at The Little Crest we provide an environment in which children learn hands-on by exploring and experiencing.
The Little Crest has crafted an internationally benchmarked curriculum which is meant for children of tomorrow who need to grow into successful citizens in a rapidly globalizing world. The formative years spent at The Little Crest are most likely to provide your child not only the critical skill to be successful but also by being a competent individual who makes continuous learning an intrinsic pursuit for a lifetime.
The Little Crest provides an intellectually stimulating and emotionally nourishing environment at the preschool level. This is the reason why we select teachers who not only are professionally competent but also love the company of children.
It is the policy of the School to give free education to a few children every year from the economically underprivileged background. This includes 5 girls from the Juvenile Home for girls in Tumakuru run by the Government of Karnataka. All these girls have proved to be outstanding in their academic performance and their behavior too.

The academic life is rigorous with the implementation of Science, Mathematics and English of the Cambridge Primary Curriculum, UK. Social Studies is a ‘Living’ subject in and outside the classroom, and the students are expected to participate in excursions, Expo’, debates, dramatizations and other teaching strategies which require the active participation of each child.
The Student exchange programme
Student exchange offers broad based benefits and outcomes for students keen to embark on this international adventure. The programme allows them to experience what it is like to live and learn in another country, which, for many, is an eye-opening, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Astronomy, the study of space is part our many science activities. This induces scientific temperament, ex- plorative & inves-tigative skills in the children and also gives the thrill of spotting the heavenly bodies.
After school sports is as important as the academics. A sound mind is in a sound body. Various team games like volleyball, throw ball, athletics, soccer (football) etc., gives children the opportunity to hone their sports skills and inculcates team spirit.
Maruthi International School values co-curricular activities to nurture the leadership skills and camaraderie. The Trekker’s and bird watcher’s clubs instill love for wild life, nature and photography and also awe them about nature. Trekking gives opportunity to explore the flora and fauna of our country’s Bio diverse areas like Western Ghats and the Himalayas.
Screening of classic movies/documentaries of social, cultural, environmental and educational relevance develops good taste and critical thinking in young minds. This would also help appreciating different cultural practices around the world.
We go cycling around the city exploring the country side which exposes them to the socio economic scenario
too. Nevertheless it gives impetus to their physical fitness.
