The features that make Kids Campus Education stand apart are:

Better infrastructure
Standard colour code – “We have colour code which has a psychological effect on children’s mind…yellow colour which brings in lot of passion. We have combination with green to indicate peace…the colour code has been fine with the children’s psychology.”
· Separate curriculum
· Proper assessment program that can be done by any teacher – “standardized in its own way so that it can be done in a structured way and auto mode also.”

On how the school promotes effective communication, he feels that “kindergarten is said to be the foundation of children’s vocabulary.”The school teaches proper words in the proper way which is most important. It is more of making them learn the vocabulary. The school ensures that the children are taught about 2-4 thousand words.
There is yet another program introduced in the system itself where the children are given a worksheet and this goes to the parents. Both of them get involved in putting the stickers in the sheet. This will also give an idea about the vocabulary they want to learn which is very important. For senior classes, “it is a regular program where we use 2-3 letter words and practice happens in the library, most likely what we teach in the class.”

Hiring of Teachers
There is always problem in hiring good teachers as they do not continue. The prerequisite for hiring teachers is good command in English and courses in B.Ed. That is the main preference but they are also ready to take in teachers with experience. They also conduct online training programs at regular intervals free of cost where they train teachers. He feels that “the most important challenge in preschool industry is training.” There are lot of franchises where they book up a place and call the teachers for training but those teachers may have problem in travelling. So if the trainer is sent to the school, the cost factor is low.

Starting a Preschool
Mr.Vickaash says that if somebody wants to start a franchisee, he should focus on the area and the location. “If you talk about franchisee in Mumbai, 1000 sqft is more than enough as the real estate value is very high.” In Bangalore about 2200 sqft and in smaller towns where the real estate value is low, one can get bigger space. But the minimum requirement to start the franchise is about 1500-2000 sqft area. About Rs. 7-8 lakhs of investment and one year working capital is required to start a preschool. The school won’t get admission in the first year. So one “should be ready with the investment and working capital for the salary and other expenses. Most importantly advertising expenses should be added to it.”

Audits at School
Mr.Vickaash goes on to talk about the different kinds of audits conducted in the school. When training is given, a questionnaire is sent to them. A trainer is sent to the spot when a school is started to train them and to teach about the entire structure. Training happens at regular intervals. Training programs are created for different classes, and the teachers fill in the form and send to the school. “Based on that we find which areas are cognitive” and suggestions are given to implement the ideas.

For children there are monthly assessment cards. Whatever is taught in the class is shared with parents. All that is done is mentioned on the card and parents give their comments immediately such as anything should be changed. Immediate attention is paid to it. Once in 6 months, school audit is done and based on the reports everything is followed.
Kids Campus Education plans to start secondary school near Delhi in Haryana. The student teachers ratio is 10:1. The curriculum is updated at regular intervals. Regular exams are conducted for K1 and K2 and grading system is followed. There is no ranking.
